OSAKA, JAPAN: Day 3 – February 14, 2015

For our 2nd day, we first went to a UNESCO World Heritage site: The Tō-ji Temple. Founded on 794, To-ji, means “East Temple”, is one of the oldest temples in Kyoto and is the only surviving guardian temple along with Sai-Ji, means “West Temple” which no longer existing since 1233. It was constructed to stood either side of the Rashomon Gate to guard the main southern entrance of Kyoto. General Admission: ¥ 500 for adults. Price may vary and depends on the season. The Toji Pagoda. The Toji Pagoda is well known for being Japan’s tallest pagoda with a height of 57 meters. Flea markets are held every 21st of the month, according to other people who have experienced it, you can find everything you could typically want in Kyoto. We did not experience it because of the timing but it didn’t make our trip to the To-ji less special because it made us appreciate the beauty of place without tents and crowd! After our trip in To-ji Temple, we went to Higashiyama District. Upon reaching, we saw hundred-year-old houses everywhere, and geishas and maikos walking around the streets, it made us feel like we were back in time. There we many stores in the area and we were caught up with one thing: ICE CREAM PUFF. It was so delicious, I forgot to take photos of it. *sigh* Kyoto Station Toji Sanjusangendo Higashiyama District
